This past November, The Clean River Project removed two cars from the Merrimack River with the help of a donation from Watts.
The Clean River Project is a non-profit organization founded with a mission of cleaning and preserving a 45-mile stretch of the Merrimack River — a vast river that flows through fifteen cities in northeastern Massachusetts. Since partnering with the Clean River Project, Watts has assisted in the organization’s efforts to clean up the Merrimack by hosting river clean up days and sponsoring larger trash pulls and towing.
The Clean River Project has now pulled a total of 86 cars out of the Merrimack river since 2005 using a combination of divers, sonar, and lift bags. Much of the time these divers are working with only their flashlights for visibility and using touch to navigate the wreckage and recovery scene.
This donation is a continued partnership between Watts and The Clean River Project to support the organizations efforts to clean up the local waterways. For more information on The Clean River Project or the partnership between them and Watts, go to Clean River Project Site
